On my easel, my Hoopoe drawing done with coloured pencils. Several summers I’ve seen hoopoes in Italy but I’ve, regrettably, never seen hoopoe chicks. My young birds are therefore inspired by bird print artist John Gould.
My hoopoe daddy and its off-spring are waiting for mum to return with some delicious snacks. The chicks are resting in a hollow tree and daddy is dutifully on guard. He is overlooking the fields in front of him.
